Introduction =============== Zany Doodle is a unique 2D puzzle game, where physics play the main role in solving the different levels. You will use just a pen to draw different things and they will behave as if they were real. You can draw anything you want to solve the levels! At first you will only use normal pens made of different materials. Later you will get other things that you can use to solve the levels, like pins or yarn. With the integrated editor you have a poweful tool to create your own levels or even complicated machines that can do anything you want them to. Because you draw everything on your own the possibilities are unlimited. This demo version does only contain a few levels from the full version of Zany Doodle. Also you will not be able to load or save anything you create with the level editor. 2. System Requirements ====================== General hardware reqirements: - Internet connection (only for the first activation of the game) - CPU: 600 MHz (with SSE Extensions) - RAM: 128 MB - Grapics: DirectX9 compatible graphics adapter (with at least 80 MB free video RAM) - HDD: 100 MB of free space on your hard drive - Software: Windows XP SP2,Vista - DirectX 9.0c End-User-Runtime (August 2008) - Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Runtime-Library Recommended: - CPU: 1.5GHz (Dual Core) - RAM: 512MB - Graphics: Fast DirectX9 compatible graphics adapter (with at least 128 MB free video RAM, no onboard chip) 3. Installation =============== Just run Zany Doodle DemoSetup.exe and follow the instructions. The setup will check if you need any additional components on your system and give you instructions on how to install them if necessary. 4. Basic Gameplay ================= You use the available pens to draw anything like rocks, balls, levers, pulleys or anything you want to solve the levels. To solve the levels, you need to collect all the stars you can find by moving the blinking ball to them. That ball has to be moved by your drawings. 5. Game Controls ================ Mouse: Left Mouse Button - Draw Right Mouse Button - Erase Keyboard: Escape - Quit the current level Space - Restart the current level 6. Editor Controls ================== The editor gui has a lot of functions. You can hover the mouse over the buttons for a short time to see the description of it. The CTRL-Keyboard-Key can be used to snap scrollbar values to their 0-point. In the lower right part of the editor you see a small window, that is used as the game control of the editor. The big green "play" button will start testing your level, like you would be playing it. The controls are then like in the normal game. The small red "play" will start the physics simulation inside of the editor. Changes to your level by the physics engine are not reversible. Use this only to let objects fall into the right position. Editing Modes: The 4 upper buttons in the toolbar are used to switch the editing modes. The 4 available modes are: Draw Mode, Sketch Editing Mode, Pen Editing Mode and Templates Mode A. Draw Mode: The Draw Mode is used to draw the main parts of your level or machine. It basically works just like the game itself. Mouse: Left Mouse Button - Draw Right Mouse Button - Erase B. Templates Mode The Templates Mode can be used to draw predefined objects like circles, rectangles, stars, triangles, gears or particle systems. Mouse: Left Mouse Button - Draw Right Mouse Button - Erase C. Sketch Editing Mode: The Sketch Editing Mode can be used to reposition or rotate any part of your drawing. You can even change different properies of any stroke, that are used by the physics engine. Template Objects properties can also be changed here. Mouse: Left Mouse Button - Select / Move objects (clicking on an empty part of your sketch will deselect anything and move the whole world) Right Mouse Button - Select / Rotate objects Keyboard: Delete Key - Erases the selected objects D. Pen Editing Mode: In this mode you can add, remove or change the properties of the available pens in your drawing. You can change the colors and material properties of the pens there and by dragging the pen with your mouse you can set the position on the screen. 7.
